. .climb into Jem's skin and walk around in it...putting his life's history on display for the edification of the neighborhood.
are these two metaphors? my teacher said it is, but i dont understand
Yes, but they can be a bit subtle.
The first uses clothing as a metaphor, whilst the second uses a painting (or work of art) as a metaphor. Can you see why?
Now tell me what these metaphors describe:
1. ________ are ships of the desert.
2. ________ plough their way through the oceans.
I find them both to be rather strange. The first one has some dark overtones and the second one is not at all clear. I have heard, "Walk a mile in my shoes" (try to understand what my life is like), which I believe is comparable to the first one. The second one sounds like, "Hanging your dirty laundry out for the neighbors to see" (displaying family secrets to the neighborhood). They are metaphors, but not common ones.
Well, yes, to me the first one is talking about pain, you know? is like to say swimming in her skin.
And the second one I understand is talking about someone that is using his experience to get the environment he want.![]()
