Is this sentence correct: there is one button missing on the right of the dress?

On the right of the dress means the button is not on the dress but next to it on the right side.

On the right part/portion of the dress

I would have said "There is one button missing on the right-hand side of the dress".

However, as far as the comment above is concerned, I wouldn't say that "on the right of the dress" would necessarily suggest that the button isn't on the dress. "To the right of the dress" would mean not on the dress, but next to it on the right-hand side.

I can't see any problems with this statement.

"There is one button missing on the right of the dress."
