How to improve the listening comprehension?

I have learnt Engilsh for ten years. However, my English listening comprehension is very poor. It's hard for me to recognize every word in the sentences when I listen. It has troubled me a lot for many years. Therefore, I want to know how to improve my English listening comprehension. Can you tell me? Thanks.

I have had the same problem ,but the advent of internet and the broad band let me the chance of listening the bbc radio programs and by this way I had got a important step ahead in my listening comprehension.
