    I marked those parts in red because I didn't understand them, and I still don't.

    v.i.means intranstive verb as we uesed in dictionaries. "It" refers to the original sentence.In short, can we say:" After the fire, the door kept standing."?Thank you very much!

    That doesn't sound very natural.

    I would suggest something like "...the door was still standing."
    I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
