The preposition with "opinion" is difficult.
I can have an opinion on something -- it would be my viewpoint.
I can have an opinion of something -- it would be whether I think it is good or bad.
What is your opinion of my essay? It's good!
What is your opinion on abortion? I think it's between a woman, her God, her partner, and her doctor -- but not the government.
{Please, I just used this as an example. No comments on abortion are sought or welcome.}
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
