    Default what "stokes" means?

I have to complete a medical questionnare to my university health service, but I can't find what "stokes" mean. Could you please explain the meaning of this word?

"Is there are history in your family of:
    High blood pressure?
    Heart attacks?
    High cholesterol?
    Stokes?
    Diabetes?
    Cancer?"

    Thank you in advance!

It's probably a typo: it's 'strokes', not 'stokes'.

I will add to that: I am certain it is a typo for strokes!

I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

And, for informational purposes, the term “stroke” dates back to the late 16th century, and it is short for “the stroke of God’s hand.” It was originally used to describe a seizure, or a “brain attack.” Metaphorically speaking, the condition was considered to be a result of Divine vengeance or chastisement, and was unpreventable and untreatable.

Medical science has since determined that a stroke is caused by a blood clot or hemorrhage in the brain, and that there are definite warning signs before one strikes. There are also ways to both prevent and treat them. But despite these advances, the ancient name for the condition has stuck.

(Thanks to www.mentalfloss.com for the info!)
