Dear Teacher,
what is the difference between "product catalog" and "product catalouge"
I want to print a product catalog and I saw that web sites use both terms.
I don't want to do a mistake. In the dictionery :
catalouge is verb and catalog is nown so I assume I should use "product catalog" but I'm not sure.
Please clarify,
Thanks!!!
Gilad
And in both BrE and AmE, the word is both a noun and a verb.
I have catalogued my photographs.
I have designed a product catalogue.
Please see the enclosed product catalog.
My friend will catalog your goods next week.
Actually, this is one of those rare times when AmE agreed with BrE: until the last decade or so, "catalogue" (as well as "dialogue" and similar words) was spelled with the "gue" ending in the US. However, once editorial space became more limited in newspapers and magazines certain shortcuts became commonplace, and eventually "dialog" became an acceptable spelling of the word. Both spellings are still understandable and acceptable in AmE.
