    Default risk of death/dying

What´s the right (best?) way to say it?
    - J was sent to hospital, but doesn´t run (the) risk of death/dying.

"Dying" is better, although "death" could be, and is, used in that context.

What about the most common verb used in this case? To run?

To "run the risk" is idiomatic.

I would say 'I was taken to hospital but wasn't in any danger of dying'.
