    Default flip on the gound

What is the name of an "acrobatic" figure which consists in tucking on the ground, bending one's neck and doing a forward flip? It's often done by children in PE classes in Poland.

We used to call it a somersault.
The judoka is doing a somewhat more elegant variety than we did at school.
    Here's a gymnastic version:

    Thank you very much!

I remember I had to do it backwards too. Is it also a somersault?

I'd call it a backward/s somersault. But if you look at the links to the other videos on the right of the somersault one, you'll find videos of all sorts of exercises - cartwheels, handstands, etc.

    Here's a [bad] backwards somersault
    YouTube - Backwards Somersault

This is what I'd call a backflip, but it's labelled as a backward somersault:

Do not look down on yourself, Bird. we all of us took that kind of exercises... I found myself quite laughable.
