Could you please help me on following questions about
a BBC article "Alan Johson: My pop star ambitions"
? BBC News - Alan Johnson: 'My pop star ambitions'
Question1: 11th paragraph
"I wonder that Bert was never prosecuted under the Trade Descriptions Act."
-Why did Alan wonder about Bert Weedon this way? I think it's sarcastic. You can be prosecuted under the Trades Descriptions Act if you describe yourself or your company as something you're not. I imagine that Bert Weedon probably promoted himself as a singer/musician, but Alan thinks that he wasn't really talented enough to make that claim.
Question2: 2nd paragraph at "Invading the North"
"We even performed in front of 1,000 young people at Aylesbury College (not quite the O2 but it thrilled us)."
- What does "O2" mean? The O2 is a music venue in London. It's called the O2 Arena, but it's frequently just abbreviated to the O2.
Question3: 3rd paragraph at "Invading the North"
"Danny hired it for an hour and we did the
Clark/Kearns quest for the perfect two minute pop hit - Hard Life, and my song I Have Seen as the B-side."
-Who are Clark/Kearns? I assume they are famous music stars, but can't guess who they are. Sorry, on this one I have no idea!
I'll be grateful for your assistance.
