fling dirt at somebody
Dear teachers,
Would you be kind enough to tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentence?
Don’t fling dirt at him because you don’t like him; he is really a very admirable fellow.
cast/fling/throw dirt at somebody = blacken someone
Thanks for your efforts.
Regards,
V
