Could one describe a person's application for a job as convincing?

Here's the context:

At present, we are not looking for new employees. However, if our website appealed to you or you have heard good things about us, please send us an unsolicited application. If your application is convincing, we will invite you for a job interview.

It sounds odd to me. I would say if your application is competitive, ...

I am also doubtful about "convincing" and would prefer to use "impressive," but I'm translating something and "convincing" is used in the original.

I presume the writer mistakenly use "convincing", instead of "competitive", becuase in my native language, "convincing" and "competitive" can be read as synonyms.

I'm not sure an application can be competitive. Maybe a teacher will enlighten us.

Please note I'm not a teacher nor a natie speaker;

what about remarkable or striking I think it would work or perhaps persuasive which is synonymous for convincing in that context.

I also do not find "convincing" a good word here. Were it in Portuguese the word "convincente" would be correct in this context. But in English I don't think so.

Being close to the original text I would say:
If your application is remarkable enough, we will invite ...

Or, not so tight to the original:
Be it remarkable enough we will/shall invite ...
Noteworthy applications may be granted an exception leading to an interview invitation.
