possibility of the past simple tense with yet
Quite a few American speakers tend to use The Past Simple Tense where British would use The Present Perefect. Is it possible to use it instead of the Past Perfect Tense?
1)"I didn't finish reading the book yet, when he came." Correct?
2)"I didn't get through reading the book yet, when he came." Correct?
3)"I wasn't done reading the book yet, when he came." Correct?
Should I have put The Past Perfect in the first part of each sentence?

They are all incorrect. (BrE) In addition, I find them to be illiterate in the extreme.
