Default What is the best way to reference a section in another book?

    Hi Teachers:

Is the following sentence correct? Even if it's correct, I do not think it's the best way to reference a topic in another book. Any other suggestions?

For detailed information on (or about) indexing, refer to the "How to index a book" section in Microsoft Indexing User Guide.

I see nothing wrong/unusual with the statement, but I would place "the" before "Microsoft".

If it's a formal essay or paper, you follow the title with the author and year:
"...in Microsoft Indexing User Guide (Microsoft, 2007)."
Then, depending on your style manual (this is Harvard style), an entry goes in your bibliography, something like this:

    References:
Microsoft, "How to index a book", Ch 4. in Microsoft Indexing User Guide xth ed., Microsoft Press, Seattle, 2007.
