    Default muted VS mute

Do my examples clearly distinguish these 2 words:

    1. They were mute. (not speaking)
    2. They spoke in muted voices. (not loud)

    Thank you.

Learning vocabs through pairs of similar words really helps.

'Mute' can also be a noun, meaning various sound-reducing/sound-reduced things - ranging from a conical device that quietens a brass instrument to a person who has (physically) no voice.
