Miss Call or Missed Call?
I just got confused...
What it should be?
I got a miss call? OR I got a missed call?
Give a miss call? OR Give me a missed call?
I got a miss call from your side? OR I got a missed call from your side?
I got a miss call from you? OR I got a missed call from you?
Re: Miss Call or Missed Call?
Best: I missed a call from you.
These days, when you look at your smart phone, it will give you a list of any calls you missed. So we do say "I've got a missed call from you" to mean "I see that you called, but I missed it." But you don't have to use this jargon. Just say "I missed a call from you."
Re: Miss Call or Missed Call?
Thanx for your reply..
But, what about this?
We many-a-times ask people us to give a miss/missed call for storing their number?
So, should it be GIVE ME A MISS CALL or GIVE ME A MISSED CALL?
Re: Miss Call or Missed Call?
Calls are missed. When a verb is used an an adjective, we use the past participle. Missed call. Iced tea. Broken window. Frosted flakes.

It is GIVE ME A MISSED CALL.
It is a way of storing that person's number on your own mobile phone.
Re: Miss Call or Missed Call?
Without disagreeing that "missed" is correct, why not just say "Call me"?
Whether you pick up and say "Got it, thanks" or the two of you just watch your phone ring, the number will still be recorded.
Re: Miss Call or Missed Call?
It does make it clear to the person that you're not going to answer it so it isn't going to waste money.
PS Thanks not thanx- this is a language forum. ;-)

I can see that this makes sense, so perhaps such a usage is growing. I haven't met it though. I, being an old fogey, would expend a few extra words and say: 'Give me a call - I won't answer' or 'Send me a text so I can add you to my directory/put your number on my phone'.
On the other hand - what you have on your phone in the way of records about missed calls, are indeed referred to as 'missed calls'.
