Default Short form for 'this is'

    Hi,

I have come across the short form for 'this is' when you use it in a conversation but I can't remember it!

    Is it - t's or t'is?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

Are you sure you don't mean the short form of 'it is' which would be 'tis. I've never heard of a short form for 'this is'.

    Regards

'tis is very old-fashioned. We use only it's now.

    I agree.
I had a Yorkshire verbal dialect use in mind at the time I wrote.
