worth of
Dear teachers,
David got a roadster, and it was valued at $3 million.
Which of the following sentence has the same meaning as the decription above.
1. David had a roadster worth of $3 million.
2. David had $3 million worth of a roadster.
Thanks
Kitty.

I see there is an apostrophe in your second answer,
I don't understand why, could you explain it please, teacher.
I was using an online dictionary, and I have just copied an example sentence
of "Worth of" from that web site:
He keeps in the safe $3 million worth of diamonds.
Is this example sentence correct? because there is not an apostrophe after the word "million".

I used the apostrophe because three million dollars' worth has the sense of a worth (value) of three million dollars. Although the apostrophe should be used when the sentence is structured as I structured it, many people do not use it; it is not a tragedy if you don't.
There is no apostrophe in $3 million worth of diamonds, because we are not taking of a value of million but of (3,000,000) dollars. The apostrophe belongs on the word dollars, but that is contained in the $ sign.
