    Smile awkward situation

    Please check out the following sentences.
    Which is better, (1) or (2)?

    (1) When he sobered up, he was surprised to realize his awkward situation.
    (2) When he sobered up, he was surprised to realize how embarrassed he was.
    (2) The police officer questioned him his name and address, then informed his family to take him home.
