-things happen to people, not 'for';
-use 'people' in your first sentence (unless you mean people who belong to different nations);
-you needn't quotation marks for 'white lie'; you also needn't capitalize the word 'white';
- you forgot 'be' in your fifth sentence (what would her.... be if...)
-take a closer look at your last 2 sentences - they lack auxiliary verbs.
- I'm not sure it's ok to say 'on what condition'. I'd use 'under what conditions' or simply 'why'.
I'd be interested to hear a native speaker's comments on this.

Need, when used as a full verb, can be followed by either or to-infinitive or a noun. So, any of these are natural:

You don't need to use quotation marks.
