'ten years from now' or 'in ten years'?

Dear friends,

'Are there going to be many satellites in space ten years from now?'

Is it appropriate to change this sentence to '...in ten years?' and still mean the same thing?

No, "ten years from now" refers to 2021.

That would be 'ten years [this is a noun], starting from now' - or, if you want to use a prepsitional phrase, 'throughout the coming decade'.
