    Default across vs opposite

    Hi, guys^^
The answer is opposite. But is "across" awkward in this sentence?
Can you explain why? Thank you in advance

Macy's is moving to Walnut Street, _______ the Hampton Theater.
    (A) across
    (B) opposite

    Default Re: across vs opposite

Opposite is okay, but across from sounds better. Across by itself is wrong.
