    Default Joining of Sentences

I opened the cage. The parrot flew out right away.
In joining the sentences are the words in bold needed?

The parrot flew out right away as soon as I opened the cage.

    Thanks.

You don't need right away in the single sentence version.

Tan Elaine, please give your threads more meaningful titles, such as The parrot flew out right away.

Re: Indirect Speech has nothing to do with your question.

Sorry and thanks for pointing our the error, Rover.

It should be 'Joining of Sentences'. I will edit the title.

    Please don't - that's just boring.

Think how eye-catching and interesting The parrot flew out right away would be.
