I've no idea what 'private label' might mean - although one could easily dream up a context in which it would make sense; a supermarket's 'own-brand label' is common usage.

Will17 should note that the Br English is 'own-brand' label (if 'label' is appropriate - some own-brand goods are sold in plain packaging).

The large grocery stores can have their own name on the label and that is called "private label" or they can stock national brands. Del monte is a national label and Coca-Cola is a world known label.

But gourmet cooks can make their own food and put a label on the bottle, too. That is also called "private Label'.

Large manufacturers can put another label on their product and it becomes a "private label." You would be surprised how chocolate is marketed around the world. Many times, it's the same chocolate, but with different label names.

I would refer to items as a "supermarket brand" or "supermarket label." The manufacturer would call these a "private label," meaning they are putting someone else's label on what would otherwise be sold as the manufacturer's label.

"A supermarket's brand" would be understood and may be used in parts of the US. I have also heard, "Get the store's brand", or, "Get Safeway's brand".

The most common usage in AmE is "store's brand" or "store brand" (since "supermarket" is almost always simply referred to as the "store" in AmE).
