    - Have I ever told you that you're a wonderful cook?
    - No, but I haven't cooked before today.

    It's a correct sentence, but it's a strange response to the question.

    It's correct as Bhai has stated. The person who answers made a delicious dish, so someone made a compliment asking that question and the 'cook' said that. However, the particle 'today' sounds a bit odd to me.
