Our culture has become very sophisticated ?
What is "sophisticated" in the context? Is it tactful, adroit, skillful? or very advance or elaborate? Hard to catch the meaning...
ex)Someone said, "Our culture has become very sophisticated in the avoidance of pain, not only our physical pain but our mental pain as well. We bury our pain as if it were not really there." We have become so used to this state of anesthesia, that we panic when ....

Without some examples of the "sophistication", it is difficult to determine its meaning. But given the choices you presented, I would use "adroit" or "skillful".
