    Dear all,

    Which is the better answer to "What is the date today?"

    #1 It's April 8th.

    #2 It's on April 8th.

    Without discussing the various ways in which the date can be written (April 8, 8th April etc):
    #1 is the correct answer, although "it's" is often omitted.
    #2 refers to an event that's happening on that day.
    "When's your birthday?"
    "It's on April 8th"
    .. although, again, "it's" or "it's on" are often omitted.
    "When is your final exam?"
    "On June 7th" or "June 7th".
