    Default maintain a challenge

    Hello everyone,

    I'd like to ask what "maintain a challenge" means.

    Here is an example of usage:

    Police investigate 'allegation of assault' against Tottenham's Benoit Assou-Ekotto - Telegraph

    Harry Redknapp's men were jeered off after the defeat to Wolves that dented their hopes of maintaining a challenge for the Champions League this season.

    The top four teams in the English Premier League get Champions' League places the following season.
