would british people say check out
"What I hate most, is the way they always put the sweets at the check out so that, when I'm waiting in the queue, my son starts asking for them i front of everyone."
My question is, do the British say at the checkout or the cash register? Would an American say "wait in the queue" or "wait in line"?

Americans wait in line but Canadians sometimes wait in the queue.

Would you have an answer to the question about the checkout? Or what do you guys say in Canada?

Most of us say 'at the checkout' now, I think.
