    Default afternoon

    Please help me,

I have a query about pronunciation of the word "afternoon" as belows.
Normally, I put the stress at the first sound (`afternoon), but I’ve just seen in a dictionary that the stress is at the first sound and also before the sound “noon” (`after`noon).
Now I feel confused & don’t know which is right.

Neither one. Pronounce it with the last syllable stressed (afternoon.)

Afternoon | Define Afternoon at Dictionary.com

The dictionary gives different stress depending on whether it's used as a noun or adjective.
