The line "but why you want to waste food over thought?" doesn't make any sense.
MG: My boyfriend is very boring. He never has anything interesting to say.
FG: What do you mean?
MG: He can never see anything from anyone else's point of view. It's all about him.
FG: Why would you want to waste time on him?
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
