Question regarding the word cook, being cook and ready. Are they being used correctly
1) My mom asked me why the chicken and fish are not out on the table yet when she came into the kitchen. I told her that the chicken is still being cook and the fish is just cook/ready. I was about the take the fish out and come back to get the chicken.

You don't need 1) when there's no 2). (Haven't I said that before?)
