    Arrow GOING ON

    1. He has something going.
    2. He has something going on.

Are the two sentences the same?

STOP adding "checking" to your threads when you don't get an answer in a time period you consider suitable.

People are going to start completely ignoring your posts if you continue to do this.

It is annoying and shows an extreme lack of patience, and it makes you seem petulant and demanding of the FREE help you get from VOLUNTEERS!

I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

Miggs -we have asked you to stop posting 'checking'. If you are doing this to bump up your post, please have more patience. Your post stood for only 33 minutes before you bumped it.

If you want to encourage people to repond to your posts, it would be helpful if you gave rather more context. I don't think the two sentences mean the same, but without context it is difficult to say.

ps. I wrote my post as Barb wrote hers. It is clear that I am not the only one getting irritated by your 'checking', or by your impatience.

    Clarification on the original post:

In an American baseball game, the pitcher has a no-hitter (going / going on).

    Is "going" = "going on"?

"Looking" is no different than "checking."

STOP BUMPING YOUR POSTS AFTER SUCH SHORT TIMES!

The way to say this is "He has a no-hitter going." It means "in progress."

You probably could say "going on." I wouldn't.
