rape kit evaluation
Please set me clear on the following in bold.
1. Maureen volunteers at Sexual Assault Support Services (SASS), ... The victim of sexual abuse typically is taken to a hospital for treatment and a rape kit evaluation, a clinical check that may be required for subsequent legal action.
What is "rape kit"?
2. That combination left precious few spaces in her schedule. The on-call-at-home role of an SASS volunteer fit perfectly, and she started volunteering at SASS for three shifts a month of night duty.
Would you please explain the above in bold more easily?
Thank you.

Re: rape kit evaluation
You need to give us a clue about SASS, unpakwon.

Re: rape kit evaluation
A "rape kit" is a standard collection of evidence taken in a medically supervised environment after a person has been sexually assaulted. Swabs of bodily fluids are taken from the victim's genital area, any skin under the fingernails (if the victim scratched her attacker) is collected for DNA identification, and any foreign hairs or fabric fibers are also collected. All of this evidence is placed in separate, marked containers, sealed and filed under the victim's name and is then evaluated by the crime laboratory in case it might be needed later in court.
"On call at home" means that the volunteers make their home telephone numbers available to rape victims so that they can phone at any time, day or night, to get counseling.
