run me through
What does "run through" mean in the following?
1. Intrigued by her philosophy of diversity, I asked Phyllis to run me through a workshop she runs for employees at Charles Schwab.
2. Identify the cultural assumptions that inform personal behavior.
I know the general meaning of "inform," but in the above context it's confusing. What does it mean here?
Thank you.

#1 In the context presented, "run me through" means to review for me/tell me about (the workshop).
#2 Not the best choice of words. I would prefer to use "influence".

Maybe not the best in an audience that is not accustomed to Br English; and possibly a little formal (or even archaic).
