Is it optional to use past perfect tense after "After"
Dear teachers,
I am writing a diary, but I am not sure whether I should use past perfect tense or not in the following sentence:
A.1.
I went to visit Japan after I watched a tour program on TV.
Or
should I write this instead:
I went to visit Japan after I had watched a tour program on TV.
Thank you.
Kitty.

Both are OK. "after watching" is also correct.
