    Default Looking for an expression...

    Hi,

I'd appreciate it if anyone could help me with this. In a competition, or a race, if the first one/team stands the first position with a great distance, then how can we describe it? Any idiom, expression or informal term, please?

Thank you so much dear bhaisahab. Is that used just for football leagues? And, say, if a student stands first in their college, then, is there any idiom to describe it?

    Thanks again!

Question Re: Looking for an expression...

How about 'to run rings round others'?

No, you can "win hands down" in any sort of competition.
If a student is outstanding compared to the others, we might say "s/he is head and shoulders above the rest".

"To run rings (a)round" somebody, is to outwit them, more that to beat them in a competition.
