Re: Lesson plans
This person is an advanced student.
FCE Level? CAE? CPE?
Advanced in theoretical knowledge of grammar or in ability to converse fluently? Both?
Formally? Informally? Both?
In speech? In writing? Both? It is impossible to decide on a suitable course of studies for individual students without first assessing theircurrent levels and analysing their needs.
Are they planning to take IELTS? TOEFL? No examination?
Do they intend to study in English? What? At what level?
Do they wish to write academic articles, or popular novels? Do they need to lecture, negotiate, broadcast....?
Only when you know why your student wishes to learn English and how they wish to use it, can you begin to think of what you do with them and how you do it. And when you have this knowledge, you are better placed than we to decide what sort of course you should plan.
If the student has specific needs, we can perhaps give advice on what you may be able to try, but there are no instant answers to course design.

Re: Lesson plans
I cannot answer all these questions as I don't know the exact level of this student either.
But as far as I know the student is planning to take TOEFL and is going to study in an English speaking country at an advanced level. He is going to study journalism.
Thanks
