    Default To sound like oneself

    Hi,

I've heard the expression "you don't sound like yourself". What does it exactly mean?

    Thanks for reply,
    Mic

    Welcome to the forum, michelabagatella.

Maybe your voice sounded different because of a medical condition.

    More context would help.

Or perhaps what you're saying is not the kind of thing we (people who know you quite well) would expect you to say (in a given situation or context)?

Thanks Rover_KE and Hedwig for your replies.
In fact the expression must have a figurate sense, as Hedwig suggests, because it was sent as a text (sms). That's why the meaning was confused to me.
