Which of the following sentences is acceptable?
(1) All my efforts go for naught.
(2) All my efforts came to naught.
(3) All my efforts were futile.
(4) All my efforts in vain.
(5) All my efforts have come to nothing.

Also: All my efforts count for naught. It has an old-fashioned ring.
What about "turn out to be a waste"?
Aside from the tense (turn or turned?) that's fine too.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
