I am sending or I send?

Hello everybody!

I have to send a file by e-mail, so I should write a message. Should I say:

I send you the file .

or

I'm sending you the file.

which sentence is correct?

"I'm sending..." is the one to use. There is nothing technically wrong with "I send..." but you will find that in English the simple present is almost never used.

We do not say "I read a website." We say "I am reading a website."

We don't say "I walk the dog," we say "I am walking the dog."

We do not say "I read a website." We say "I am reading a website."

We don't say "I walk the dog," we say "I am walking the dog."

I had my doubts about the rest of this, but it's really pretty sound . I can think of these cases where we use the present simple:

• Children's reading books:' We have a dog. We pat the dog..' .etc.
• Statements about recurrent actions:
  • On Mondays we go to the library.
  • Whenever I go out without an umbrella it rains.
• Statements about permanent states/positions: 'The church is on the right.'/'The dragons are green'
• ...I imagine there are others, but my copy of Swan is out of reach. Wait for some more answers.
