subsists on a year to year basis unless terminated
Dear teachers,
Would you be kind enough to give me your considered opinion concerning the equivalency of the following two sentences?
This Agreement subsists on a year to year basis unless terminated =
This Agreement takes effect on the date the order is placed with ….. and will continue until terminated in accordance herewith….

Re: subsists on a year to year basis unless terminated
I'd say they're different- the first would need to be renewed every year.
Re: subsists on a year to year basis unless terminated
What do you think about "Our contractual agreements with fuel merchants typically have initial terms of one year and automatically renew on a year-to-year basis unless either party gives notice of termination."

Re: subsists on a year to year basis unless terminated
In what sense? It sounds fine but it still doesn't sound the same as the second.
Re: subsists on a year to year basis unless terminated
Hi Tdol,
Thank you that you are skeptical about my consecutive abortive attempt at interpretation of a complicated legal specific expression. It’s too obvious that I am not up to it. Manifestly the time is yet ripe to leave off beating the air.

Re: subsists on a year to year basis unless terminated
Sorry- I have reread and if you mean this sentence as a version of the first sentence in your original post, then I agree.
