    Default of thought in

    Dear teachers,

Would you be kind enough to explain to me in plain English the meaning of the expression in bold in the following sentences?

He belongs to a new school of thought in linguistics.

Constructivism is the title that Deleuze uses to characterize the movement of thought in philosophy.

I'd venture the assertion that it means "ideology".

    Hi Bennevis,

Thank you for your first try.

I don’t know how to put in words my intuitive speculation about the meaning of the expression in question.

of though in = specialized in, with specialization in , with specialism in

Thank you again for your kindness.

"School of thought" and "movement of thought" are the expressions.

A school of thought is a particular group of people and the teachings they adhere to.

School of thought - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Movement of thought" is the evolution of thinking on a particular subject or within a particular discipline.

Your examples speak of the "school of thought" involved in the field of linguistics and the "movement of thought" in the field of philosophy.
