I assumed that oxford meant 'predecessor', and that what you say happened.
It would be rather pointless to state that she was replaced by her successor - though I have heard more pointless statements.

I agree, but the OP wants to use 'predecessor', in which case it's pointless giving a sentence without 'predecessor' in it.
