    Default endue = indue = endow

    Dear teachers,

    Would you be kind enough to give me your considered opinion concerning the interpretation of the expressions in bold in the following sentences?

    Reins and whip and coachman and guard, however, in combination, had read that article of war which forbade a purpose otherwise strongly in favour of the argument, that some brute animals are endued with Reason; and the team had capitulated and returned to their duty.

    Nature has endowed him with a variety of talents.

    endue = make a lot of presents (qualities) to

    The baron had indued a pair of jack boots.

    indue = endue = put on, clothe

    They were indued with intellectual sense and souls.

    indue = endow

    V.

    The baron had indued a pair of jack boots. This one doesn't work.

    The sentence apparently comes from Walter Scott: indue

    Collins Dictionary calls this usage rare.
