Question London Town vs London town

    London Town
    London town
I came across both of the two variants. So which is correct or preferable?

She lives near the Town Hall.
She lives near the town hall.

What's the difference in using capital/ small letters?
    Many thanks

It's hard to say out of context, but if London is being referring to as London Town, both should be capitalised, as in New York City.

She lives near theTown Hall. This is correct if the town hall is formally called Town Hall.

In this context, capital letters are used in names. "Town Hall" is the name of the building, a proper noun; "town hall" is a description of the function of the building.
