Default the ability of using his hands

We say 'the ability to do sth'. But can we also say 'He lost the ability of using his hands'?

    Thank you in advance.

Default Re: the ability of using his hands

We say 'He lost the use of his hands'.

If you insist on including the ability, it would have to be 'He lost the ability to use his hands'.
