a distant relative/relation? Please define "distant relative" for me. Is my grandfather my distant relative? Thank you very much.

Teacher Re: a distant relative/relation? I would not call a grandparent a distant relation. It's not about age, but about how close you are genetically. If you look at the chart in this article, you'll see things like third cousins twice removed- that's what I would call a distant relative.
