    Default work one’s ticket

    Dear teachers,

Would you be kind enough to give me your considered opinion concerning the interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentence?

..he simply hates it, and is trying all he can to works his ticket and come home again.

work one’s ticket = simulate, malinger
