    Default look utterly spent

    Dear teachers,

I'm having a difficulty grabbing the meaning of this highlighted phrase:

He could not get up. His ribs were showing and he looked utterly spent.

I'll be very thankful if you want to help me. :)

    A bunch of thanks,

You didn't highlight a specific phrase in that sentence, but given the title of your thread, I assume you want to know what "to look utterly spent" means.

In this context it means that he had the appearance of someone who was completely exhausted.
